Attractions in Antholz and the Surroundings
Our hotel in the Valle Anterselva is your starting point for accessing the most diverse attractions in the entire Val Pusteria Valley. We’ve listed a few of them here…
Lake Antholzersee
Totally tucked away at the end of the Valle Anterselva lies one of the most beautiful alpine lakes in the world. Surrounded by dark green forests, in the shadows of the Rieserferner peaks, the Lake Lago di Anterselva – the third-largest mountain lake in South Tyrol – slumbers. Further up, near the Austrian border, you’ll find the upper lake.
Dolomites
To the south of the Valle Anterselva lie the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Striking walls and high rock towers are some of the unusual limestone “figures.” The Three Peaks in the Höhlensteintal, Marmolada in Val Gardena, and many other mountains shouldn’t be missed during your holiday in South Tyrol.
Messner Mountain Museum Corones
MMM Corones, situated on the summit plateau of Kronplatz (2,275 m), is dedicated to traditional mountaineering, which has strongly influenced – and been strongly influenced by – Reinhold Messner. The museum is devoted to mountain history and also offers unique views of the great mountain walls of the Dolomites and the Alps. At the edge of the most magnificent viewing platform in South Tyrol, in the distinctive museum building created by Zaha Hadid, the view goes beyond the borders of South Tyrol to all points of the compass: from the Lienz Dolomites in the east to the Ortler Alps in the west, from the Marmolada in the south to the Zillertal Alps in the north.
Messner Mountain Museum Ripa
At Bruneck Castle, you’ll find Reinhold Messner’s fifth museum. Here, everything revolves around the topic of mountain peoples. You’ll see exhibits about the everyday cultures of various mountainous regions and the people who live there (e.g., Sherpas, Indians, Tibetans, Walser, Mongols, Hunza). The Messner Mountain Museum Ripa was opened in the summer of 2011 at Bruneck Castle.
